Sydney witnessed an adrenaline pumping performance by the musical trio Shankar Ehsaan Loy as they made the crowd swing and dance to their magical beats.

The Hillsong Convention Centre was bursting with music and infectious energy as the musicians delivered a power packed performance. Shankar Mahadevan, Ehsaan Noorani with Loy Mendonsa, who shot to fame with their albums, Dil Chahta Hai, Kal Ho Na Ho and Rock On took music lovers down the memory lane with their evergreen numbers.

Hosted by the RKSV foundation, the concert was led by the brilliant MC duo of Preeti Thadani and Kartik Mohandas. As the musicians opened the show with a prayer, they soon started the momentum with songs like Sajda, Jise Dhondata Hoon Main Har Kahi, Maine jise abhi abhi dekha hai and mast magan. To the dismay of the front row seaters, the audience was invited to the front giving them an opportunity to sing and dance closely to the stage. Though this changed after the break, the fans were at the back closer to the end of the concert creating a vibrant atmosphere!

Known also as the ”˜Amar Akbar Anthony’ of Hindi film industry, the celebrated trio absorbed the audience with people swaying to songs like ”˜It’s the time to disco, Yeh Khushi re, Har ghadi badal raha hai roop zindagi, Koi Kahe Kehta Rahe, Senorita from films Rock On, Dil Chahta Hai, Kal ho Na Ho and Zindagi Milege na Dobara. Shankar Mahadevan also told the story behind the success and the simplicity of the song “Har ghadi badal raha hai roop zindagi. “We created this melody which has the simplest words while having breakfast at the German bakery in Pune. In 15 minutes this song was created. When Javed Akhtar heard this tune, he said he didn’t want to add his poetry to the song as the simplicity spoke for itself.”

Shankar Mahadevan also celebrated 20 years of ”˜Breathless’ by singing the song that made him rise to fame. At the request of his fans, he also sang songs in Tamil, Gujarati, Marathi, Bengali and Punjabi. And if his numbers made his fans jive, he also made a few emotional with songs like Tujhe Sab pata hai na maa, Tanhai and Mitwa. Overall, they entertained people from all age groups including kids who could be seen dancing on their seats or perched on their parents’ shoulders.

Striking the right chord every time, the musicians left the crowd wanting for more. Well done to the organisers for starting the concert on time and bringing the award winning trio to Sydney. As they performed with all heart and soul, RKSV foundation would be donating the profit from the concert to nominated charities.
