One had to be there to experience the thrill at Swar Taj singing competition

SWAR TAJ is the biggest Bollywood Singing Competition held in Australia. The aim of this event is to create an opportunity and a platform to engage talented singers from India, Nepal, Pakistan, Bangladesh and Fiji who are currently living in NSW. Proudly presented by Sydney Bollywood Melody Group (SBMG), Anil Pardeshi, Sanjoy Ray thanked the contestants, judges, audience and sponsors for an entertaining musical competition where the contestants tried their best to outdo each other with their chosen renditions.

The second edition of this event held at Bowman Hall Blacktown on May 11 was a big step up from the one held last year. The sold out event with over 400 audience turned out to be a tremendous success thoroughly enjoyed by the music lovers in Sydney. They watched a live thrilling contest of the 12 amazing talents fighting for the Top spot and get an opportunity to record their first song professionally from scratch in Mumbai by the renowned Bollywood Music Director Nikhil Kamath.

The competition was open for the first 50 people who registered online for the audition. After intense audition over 2 days, out of the 47 potential contestants the Top 12 were handpicked by our esteemed judges Mr. Vinod Kumar Rajput, Ms. Rekha Rajvanshi and Mr. Lalit Mehra. The Top 12 were groomed and mentored by the team of SBMG in coordination with the wellknown SAAZ Band at their music studio.

The event was spiced up with enthralling dance performances by elite dance schools in Sydney, a spellbinding fusion created by two musicians on Violin and Tabla and a captivating singing performance by a special guest artist Ms. Pinkey Patel from India. Chief Guest for the event was Councillor Ms. Reena Jethi from Hills Shire who gave an encouraging speech, almost declaring all participants as winners, the philosophy she said she believes in, “Either you win or you learn’ by just being in the competition you are all winners.”

Saaz band started with the contestants as MC invited with ‘Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikandar’.

The first of the twelve contestant was Varun Agashe who sang the famous ‘Afreen Afreen’. Pritpal Singh took everyone on a crescendo with his ‘Main jahan rahun’ a Rahat Fateh Ali song which clinched the win for him and then his final choice was Shankar Mahadevan’s ‘Meri Ma’ which was just too good. Audience response was great as some even went up stage to congratulate the talented find by the Swar Taj group.

The 3 well respected judges for the grand final were Mr. Avijit Sarkar, Ms. Rachana Bhatnagar and Mr. Ambupad Thakur who had a tough time in selecting the Top 3 winners SWAR TAJ 2019: Pritpal Singh was declared Winner with Shambhavi S Bharadwaj as the First Runner Up and Neha Kapoor as the Second Runner Up.

Said Avijit Sarkar of Natraj Academy, “I’ve heard some wonderful new voices at the Swar Taj singing competition. I am indeed very excited about the emerging talents here. I am hoping that they will keep on putting in the hard yards in music and manage to ignore the applause. Simply because applause in show business, is just a temporary phenomena. What lasts a lifetime is relentless hard work and perseverance.I am also hoping to work with some of these voices in the future”

After the event there was only one question on everyone’s lips – when will be the SWAR TAJ 2020. The organizers say: Stay tuned.
