Home is where the heart is. Sounds like cliché but when you enter the house of ace interior designer of International repute, Payal Kapoor, you realize that not only heart but home is also where art is.

The only designer to have been featured in the latest volume of ‘Barons greatest Interior Designers of the world’, Payal has lend her creativity to the interiors of several homes and leading commercial places worldwide like The Imperial Hotel, New Delhi, Hotel Umaid Bhavan Palace, Jodhpur, Interiors of luxury train -“Palace On Wheels”, Zum Mughul Hoff, Vienna. Austria etc.

Trained from New Delhi Polytechnic Interiors school, she opened her own design firm ”˜Visions” in 1991 and started interior projects in India and abroad.   With a competent team of professionals from Architects, Civil Engineers, and Interior experts to electricians, plumbers etc., Payal Kapoor works entirely on her own design sense and instincts.

Travelling is an important part of her work and this exposes her to various cultures and artworks of different places and the residents. She blends all these experiences to create something unique and unconventional.

Payal Kapoor believes in a harmonious blend of materials and colors. Working in spaces gives her utmost pleasure and this reflects the moment you enter her house in Safdarjung Enclave. Every nook and corner of the house showcases a different story with one common element of warmth and homeliness all round.

“My main focus is on keeping the soft furnishing pallets soft and neutral and bring out loads of color in art, accents and embellishments like object d art etc. I feel homes are made with items collected over a period of time by an individual which reflect the personality and lifestyle of a client”, says Payal and goes on to explain, “As a professional, I ensure that styling of elements is done creatively with architectural design inputs from my side. Therefore apart from creative lighting ideas, correct layout, reflected ceiling plans, flooring materials used, and the outside views merged with inside are very important”.

One striking feature of her home interiors is the creative blend of soft furnishings, art works and outstanding pieces or collectors’ items.

“I like large canvas art with eclectic colours complimenting the soft hues of drapes and upholstery material used.  Same reflects in the interiors created by me as you can see. It’s basically an understated classic contemporary feel  of décor. And most importantly, clutter of any sort is totally avoidable”, she reflects while highlighting the importance of having energy and positive vibes flowing at home.

Keeping open myriad possibilities to liven up every space, Payals’ home echoes an aesthetic appeal, visual comfort and glamour sizzle to create a perfect balance of serenity all through.
