Cricket Australia to release film series focusing on Australia vs India cricketing rivalry

Following the phenomenal success of the 2017-18 Ashes film series, ‘Forged in Fire’, Cricket Australia will release a two-part documentary series celebrating the epic cricketing rivalry between Australia and India.

Directed by filmmaker Peter Dickson, 2 Nations, 1 Obsession will screen exclusively on FOX CRICKET on Foxtel. The two-part series will premiere on FOX CRICKET on Wednesday, November 21 at 5.20pm as a lead in to Australia’s T20 International against India. The second instalment will air on Thursday, November 22 at 8.30pm.

The film provides unique insights into of the great contests of the modern era, including the famous tied series of 1986 and Australia’s drought-breaking 2004 series win in India, and explores what makes the rivalry between the two nations so special.

The documentary will also reflect on India’s elevation from easy beats to cricket superpower and the meteoric rise of the Indian Premier League.

Featuring interviews with key protagonists along with rarely-seen archive footage, this series will bring to life the pivotal contests that laid the foundation for one of cricket’s greatest rivalries.

Award-winning documentary filmmaker Peter Dickson returns to cricket following his successful collaboration with Cricket Australia for last year’s ‘Forged in Fire’.

Commenting on the film series, Peter Dickson said: “For me and my team to be able to once again work on a feature cricket documentary in 2018 has been a tremendous thrill and challenge. 2 Nations 1 Obsession is not only a story about a rivalry on field between India and Australia, but a deep and at times emotional look at the game and its importance to the relationship between two nations who are culturally so different.”

Cricket Australia Executive General Manager, Broadcasting, Digital Media & Commercial, Ben Amarfio said:

“The cricket rivalry between Australia and India is an incredible one and we wanted to acknowledge and celebrate that through this wonderful film series.  The film series vividly brings to life some of the cricketing history between India and Australia as we prepare to host India across three formats of the game this summer.

“Teams from both countries have been involved in some of the most exciting contests, gripping moments and unforgettable performances in world cricket, all of which has made every match between the two nations a meaningful and unmissable event.  We are excited to once again be working with Peter on this film to give viewers an in-depth and unique view on the relationship between the two nations and the cricket obsession that binds us.”

Head of FOX SPORTS, Peter Campbell said: “We are delighted that 2 Nations, 1 Obsession will exclusively premiere on FOX CRICKET, Australia’s only dedicated cricket channel. The two part series will premiere on Wednesday, November 21 at 5.20pm and will be the perfect complement to our live coverage of India’s tour of Australia this summer as rivalries are rekindled across Test, ODI and T20 formats.”

2 Nations, 1 Obsession will screen on FOX CRICKET on Foxtel in Australia and worldwide via Cricket Australia’s international broadcast partners during November and December. DVDs will be available at major retailers from the 7th of December.
