North Sydney Hare Krsna Temple celebrates 40th Anniversary with grand Janmashtami

This year commemorates the 40th Anniversary of Sri Sri Radha Gopinath temple in North Sydney. Accordingly, ISKCON,   or “Hare Krishnas” as they are affectionately known, are celebrating Krishna Janmashtami like never before. Krishna Janmashtami marks the appearance day of Lord Krishna.

With a magnificent venue, the festival promises to be a fun-filled day with traditional dance performances, mouth-watering food stalls, colourful bazaar, arts exhibition, astrology seminar and fun activities for children including face painting, jumping castle.

Through this event, ISKCON hope to showcase India’s rich spiritual history and wish to bring together the community to celebrate heritage, culture & tradition. This is particularly important for the younger generation to appreciate its cultural and spiritual roots in a fun and entertaining way

The fun begins at 10am and will provide entertainment for the whole family.

Deity of the Lord will rest upon a jhulan and all visitors will be invited to swing the jhulan and offer aarti to the Lord

Kids are likely to be the happiest with an array of children activities including face painting, jumping castles, and colouring competition

The ladies’ love for clothes, jewellery and henna will be taken care of by various stalls for the same

There will be mouth-watering food stalls ”“ covering every corner of India including chatpatta North Indian Chaats, beautiful Bengali sweets, amazing Mumbai street food, tasty Gujarati snacks and sumptuous South Indian cuisine

Audience will relish the multicultural entertainment.

Hundreds of artists from all ages and talent will take the stage to entertain the crowd via traditional enlivening bhajans, Indian classical dance and soul-stirring kirtans

ABOUT THE ORGANISERS ”“ ISKCON

Started 45 years ago by His Divine Grace A.C. Bhakti Vedanta Swami Prabhupad who, at the age of 69 travelled to US to spread the love of God to the western countries

In 11 years, Swami Prabhupad travelled the globe 12 times and established 108 temples

The Sydney temple, which has beautiful deities of Sri Sri Radha Gopinath, is located at 180 Falcon St, North Sydney & recently celebrated its 40th Anniversary

Every day, beginning at 4:30am, 6 food offerings (corresponding to 6 aartis) are made to the deities

Outfits of the deities are changed twice every day, morning & evening

Temple celebrates main festivals throughout the year including Krishna Janmashtami, Ram Navmi, Nrsimha Caturdarshi, Gaur Poornima, Deepvali etc”¦

Festival celebrations involve arti, abhishek, enlivening kirtan followed by free sumptuous Prasad to hundreds of devotees

ISKCON also operates, Food For Life, a registered charity which is dedicated to providing food and basic necessities to >40,000 per annum under-privileged members of the Australian community since 1995
